MACHINIMA AT QACI

August 14, 2011 By ATOM Queensland

Thanks to Mel Osborne for this report on the recent ATOM QLD Machinima workshop, which took place at Queensland Academy of Creative Industries on July 26, 2011.

Glenda Hobdell presented an innovated workshop which takes Machinima beyond it’s simple origins where students created films using Second life sequences and still look like the original game. She demonstrated ways of creating moving image artworks beyond the game environment through the use of multi-media, beginning with Machinima and adding rotoscoping, chroma key techniques and after-effects. The results were amazing artworks which had depth and meaning. She provided the group with great advice on choosing the right game, applied technology and structuring the learning and sent us away with a great package of information to develop our own lessons.
