Your voice matters!
We need to collect data about the impact of scaling in schools on FTVNM specifically, and in order to show the scale of the impact we need to gather as many responses as possible.
PLEASE COMPLETE THE SURVEY
Here is the TEACHER VOICE SURVEY for you to complete. Please share this with your colleagues - those teaching FTVNM and those who might have once taught it but no longer do.Here is a STUDENT VOICE SURVEY. It is targeted at students who did FTVNM in the OP system, and students who have done it in the ATAR system - as well as those who didn’t choose FTVNM in the ATAR system.
In 2022, ATOM Q members and non-members were surveyed to capture the effect of the implementation of the new syllabus and new QCE system. Now that this system has had a few cohorts graduate we would like to capture data and feedback on the impact of this system. The results of the survey will be shared publicly and with key stakeholders including QCAA, QTAC, Department of Education, Ministers, Arts Advocacy Subject Associations, Arts education researchers, Essential Screen Skills and Department of Trade, Employment and Training and Academics etc. Responses will be de-identified and your personal details will not be recorded. Please share and spread the word!
Hello Arts Colleagues,
You are most likely aware of the ATAR review survey that is currently open. It is important that all arts subjects loudly signal the impact scaling is having on subject choice for senior schooling. Unfortunately, Queensland is at the top of the national league table (at 45% reduction) in terms on downturn in engagement in arts subjects by our year 11 and 12 students.
Here is the form for capturing teacher voices:
If you have key parent voices that would be helpful to share, here is the link to share with them:
Introduced in 2020, the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) replaced the Overall Position (OP) in Queensland. Now, after more than five years in operation, a review is underway to better understand how the system is working for schools, students and families.
Led by the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre in partnership with Independent Schools Queensland and other education stakeholders, the survey is gathering insights into:
• Understanding of ATAR
• Understanding of subject scaling
• Influences on subject selection
• Impacts on subject offerings and subject viability
All responses are completely anonymous, and your input will help inform future improvements to senior education in Queensland.
Please ensure you submit a response - this review has been the result of significant advocacy from both groups and individuals over the past years.
